At 2024 AI Hardware & Edge AI Summit: Daniel Valdivia, Engineer, MinIO
At the recent 2024 AI Hardware & Edge AI Summit in San Jose, Calif., I caught up with Daniel Valdivia, Engineer, MinIO, creators of the MinIO Enterprise Object Store: Built for AI Data Infrastructure.
The discussion takes us on a tour of the company’s mission and market strategy along with a brief history of the firm including its current view of the state of AI private cloud business and why AI is fueling a shift back to on-prem/private cloud. We then turn to a discussion of MinIO’s news announced at the show centering around remote device memory access, loading data from storage direct into the accelerator, e.g. GPU, TPU, etc. Valdivia also talks about the company’s two camps of customers doing vision-based prediction and also language-based prediction. And finally, we take out our crystal ball looking ahead 12-18 months to see what’s ahead for the company in the field of AI.
